The Mentone Rhododendron Festival at Mentone, Alabama


May 5, 6 and 7, 2006

The Mentone Rhododendron Festival at Mentone, Alabama, on top of Lookout Mountain in North Dekalb County will be May 5, 6 and 7, 2006.

Mentone Area Preservation Association presents old time fun with arts, demonstrations, crafts, music, dancing, boat rides, games, & more.

The festival is sponsored by the , a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the natural heritage of the Mentone AL area.

See the arts and crafts vendors at Brow Park during the day on Saturday and Sunday. Rhododendron plants will be for sale.

Friday Night Bonfire


In Historic Mentone Town Square the Spring Celebration begins with
storytelling performances and music at 6:30 p.m. featuring the "Mentone Troubador" Tony Goggans and special guests Susan Cherones and Miss G.



Saturday


Music at Brow Park
10 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Brian Bush (won best male country vocalist)
11:15 - 12:45 Bridge Between (Southern Style Music)
11:45-12:30 Lil’ Pat will entertain children (young and old) with singing and stories
1-1:45 Parade and Valley Head High School Band
2:15 - 3:15 Bridge Between
3:45 til 4:45 Russell Gulley
All day Saturday, old fashioned games will be available for children

Night Bonfire and Music on Town Square
The Mentone Troubadour - Tony Goggans- entertains as the emcee
6:00 - 6:45 Northeast Community College Jazz Band
7:15 - 8:15 Kings of Swing
8:45 - til Chas (mix of familiar and original music)

12-12:45 Noi Griffin (Southern Gospel)
1:00 - 2:00 Cloggers
2:00- 3:00 Silverliners Dancing
3:30 - 4:15 Wendy Crow (gospel singer)
4:45 - 5:30 Local Christian Rock Band called 12th Gate

Handmade quilt raffle on Sunday at 4:30. Tickets for $1 may be purchased at festival.
